A gastronomic quest in Limousin, a bewitching trip through the magical recipe books of an area that never accepts less than the best when it comes to pleasing the most discerning of gourmets.
Limousin is a land of gastronomic splendours : meats (beef, veal, lamb and the Cul-noir pig) and apples from Limousin are the region's flagship products for taste and quality. But you must taste the walnuts, chestnuts, Beaulieu strawberries and the ceps and truffles as well.
Those with a sweet tooth will prefer madeleines from Saint-Yrieix, Massepains (traditional. small oval cakes made from almonds, sugar and white eggs), Creusois (a moist cake nade of butter, ground hazelnuts, sugar and white of egg), and there is also the Burgou or Trépais, the celebrated cherry clafoutis...
And even the distilleries and breweries join in ! As an aperitif : kaolin (Limousin pastis), local beers, 'vin paillé' - a sweet fruity, locally-crafted wine from Corrèze, made with raisins...,or, as a digestif: walnut liqueur, liqueurs made from red fruits...
