Anjou, at the Heart of the Loire Valley

The Loire River, which passes through Anjou became a part of the first stretch of any river on the planet to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Experiences by boat, the Loire looks at its very best along this 80 mile stretch.

East of Angers, follow the Loire along either bank, each offering an unforgettable route. Things to see on your trip through this protected area are:

- The Observatoire de la Vallée d'Anjou at St-Mathurin.

- The Corniche Angevine high above the south bank, for breathtaking viewing points onto the river.

Get on board a boat and explore the Loire from close up. Other areas such as Montjean-sur-Loire and Champtoceaux (west of Angers) or Saumur and St.Clement-des-Levées (east of Angers), offer boat trips. This region has much to offer potential sailors.
