Cave Dwellings Very early signs of prehistoric existence can be found in Loire Centre. Caves that have survived centuries in the region are one of the first types of human dwelling to be found in France. Carved out of the hillside these sturdy caves were home to farmers. Some of these caves are now inhabited once again by locals. The Troglodyte Village of Trôo, near Vendôme and the Troglodyte Valley of Les Goupillières in Azay-le-Rideau are where the caves are to be found. Relive through your own eyes the life that cave dwellers had hundreds of years ago.
