Chamonix Mont -Blanc
The Ski areas
Chamonix Valley includes 4 large high altitude ski areas that are easily accessible for skiers of all levels: Les Grands Montets, Brévent-Flégère, Balme and Télécabine du Prarion, and also 4 ski areas at lower altitude, which are both fun and suitable for learning. The ski passes can be bought in advance on the Internet, i n the resort at the bottom of the ski-lifts, and at some places of accommodation and sports shops.
The Schools of skiing
The skiing schools offer several possibilities for learning all kinds of snow sports, in personal or group lessons, supervised by staff of all nationalities. Lessons for beginners and for competition level, off-piste skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, etc...
Ecofriendly Chamonix
Chamonix takes concrete action in the following fields: implementation of a policy for less CO2 emitting transportation in the valley, selective sorting of waste at source, strict management of water to preserve the quality of this rare resource, implementation of an environmental management system, and educating our visitors on the vulnerability of the mountain environment.
With snowshoes or on foot
Snowshoeing is an ideal way to explore the Chamonix Valley from a diiferent viewpoint in winter. Supervision byt the valley's professional guides or instructors is recommanded to ensure total safety. A snowshoeing area has been developed on Balme, at the top of the Vallorcine cable care line towards Les Posettes. In addition to the 17 km of maintained and waymarked foortpaths in the bottom of the valley, circuits reserved for walkers have been provided in the ski areas : a route of around 2 hours at Grands Montets, and a 45 minutes walk along the Libellules slope.
