There are nine golf courses to choose from in the Limousin region, all of which are open to visitors. Two of them are near Limoges. Prices are lower than you would normally pay in the UK and courses are generally un-crowded. Some examples are:
Golf in Limoges St Lazare
This course is five minutes from the city centre and 30 minutes from Les Hirondelles cottages. It’s an 18 hole golf course on 70 hectares and was designed by M. Hubert Chesneau, Director General of the French Golf Federation. It is open all year round to visitors.
Golf de la Porcelaine - Panazol
This course is 30 minutes from Les Hirondelles cottages, just outside Limoges. It is a Championship course designed by Jean Garaialde in lovely countryside. It is an 18 hole golf course on 75 hectares, offering 6,048 metres with forest, bunkers and water hazards. It is open all year round to visitors.
Golf de Saint Junien
Created in 1995, this is an 18 hole golf course, with 9 supplementary holes. It also offers a practice range, practice bunkers and putting green. Its restaurant is open all year and the course is open to visitors from 9.00am – 7.00pm.
Golf du Coiroux - Aubazine
This is an 18 hole, par 70 golf course and a 9 hole beginners course set in 175 hectares of forest. It also offers a practice putting green and practice range. It is in the Correze region, approximately 1 ½ hours’ drive from Les Hirondelles cottages.
Golf de Bourganeuf
This new, 9 hole golf course opened in 2004. It features a practice area with bunkers. It is approximately 25 minutes from Les Hirondelles cottages.
