Limoges in LimousinLimoges had retained its international reputation as the home of the arts of the furnace: porcelaine and enamel. It has just been awarded recognition as a 'Town of Art and History'.
Memories of the past are linked with present-day developments. There are two museums: the Musée de l'Evêché for enamel, Adrien Dubouché for porcelain, the Maison de l'Email (enamel), factories (Bernardaud, Médard de Noblat...), workshops, specialised shops all competing to enrich, if there were any need to do so, your visit to this regional capital. As you walk around, don't miss the old areas of the town (the Abessaille district around the cathedral, the Rue de la Boucherie and the market-halls, not to mention the daily market in the Place des bancs).
