Lozère The Lozere department covers the southern part of the Massif Central, including the mountainous regions of Aubrac, la Margeride, le Gevaudan and the Cevennes. The climate is harsh in the winter but has milder summers.
However, the dramatic, limestone Tarn gorges attract tourists to the area each year.
The Lozere prides itself on local specialities such as 'La Pouteille', a rich dish of beef and pig's trotters or 'L'Aligot', mashed potato with liberal amounts of crushed, fresh garlic!
