Montmartre Montmartre is one of the more famous areas of Paris, celebrated for its bohemian nature and colony of artists. Historically, this was a gathering area for artists and writers who travelled from many parts of the world to spend time in Paris.
Montmartre may have less writers and artists today, nonetheless it retains its narrow cobblestone streets and charm, with many restaurants and bistros to entice the tourists who flock to the area. Montmartre, being on a hill, has excellent views of the city and a visit to the famous Sacre-Coeur church is a must.
