Skiing in Savoie
Whether you like charming traditional resorts like Megève, Chamonix, Val d’Isère or Méribel, resolutely modern resorts like Les Arcs, Flaine, la Plagne or Val Thorens or Nordic resorts like Bessans, or Les Saisies…there is one for you in Savoie Mont Blanc and with most of our ski resorts above 1,500m high (many of them including peaks over 3,000m) you can be sure that you will find enough snow all season long. What about the non-skiers?
Savoie Mont Blanc resorts do not skimp on the quantity and variety of the activities they offer. For younger kids, original activities are on offer, such as a giant sledging runs in Val Thorens that set off from one of the mountain tops in the ski area. For those who like to admire the view, cable cars take you up to the mountains where you can enjoy a nice cup of tea facing the stunning landscape. But you can also treat yourself to an unforgettable snowshoeing trip by night! For those who are more adventurous, why not trying paragliding, or ice diving in Tignes. For sweet pleasures, try one of the numerous spas that can be found in all the resorts: a wonderful combination of snow and relaxation.
Winter sports and disabilities
Savoie Mont Blanc wants everyone to enjoy winter sports. Thirty-two of Savoie and Haute-Savoie's ski resorts provide facilities for disabled skiers, enabling as many people as possible to enjoy winter sports.
These 32 resorts were selected according to four criteria:
- The ability of their ski schools to provide suitable teaching (qualified ski instructors) and equipment.
- The presence of an advisor to provide information about all the services available in the resort.
- The quality of the special services on offer. Only establishments that have been inspected and approved are recommended: accommodation, restaurants and other services.
- The ski lifts must be accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The Charm of the Mountain Lakes
Marinas, yachts, parasols, sun cream, open air atmosphere or romantic cruises: the 4 lakes in Savoie Mont Blanc are like little inland seas, set against the inimitable backdrop of the majestic alps : Lake Annecy, Lake Geneva or Lake Léman, Lake Bourget, Lake Aiguebelette. Well-equipped, lively, pleasant and well looked after, these four Savoyard characters offer a plethora of leisure activities from the contemplative to the super energetic. Another characteristic of Savoie Mont Blanc: its thermal spa resorts close to the lakes or in the mountains which have transformed themselves to offer well-being breaks as well.

The Route des Vins in Savoie
Côtes du Rhône, Beaujolais and Savoie wines all have their own itinerary or circuit which will take you through pretty villages, each with their own cellars renowned for a certain vintage. Visitors can learn about each “appellation” with the help of a winegrower or one of the many little guide books that have been published about the wine routes. Worth considering are the visits to wine cellars and vineyards, the opportunity to chat with local winegrowers, plus meal stops at some of the best restaurants in the region.
