Enticing sandy beaches run for an astonishing 120 kilometres from Dunkerque to Berck-sur-Mer, lined with dunes and majestic cliffs. On the most glorious headlands, Les Deux Caps, in the national regional park of outstanding natural beauty, hikers are excellently catered for. This Opal Coast is named for its milky skies. The Dunkerque Harbour Museum traces the history of fishing and you can try fishing from a sea trawler too. The United Nation's commended the national museum of the sea, Nausicaa, in Bolougne. It combines exhibitions, including a stunner on climate change, with great spectacle, basking sea lions and shark tanks, while the Bagatelle amusement park offers hours of fun.
