The best known resort in the Sancy range is Super Besse, which has some 45km of south facing slopes, comprising 27 runs: 7 green, 6 blue, 11 red and 3 black. There is a link to the north facing resort of Le Mont Dore and lift passes may be purchased for individual resorts or the whole area.
Le Mont Dore to the north side of Puy de Sancy, extends over 42 km of piste, with 31 runs - 15 green, 9 blue, 6 red and 1 black. All lifts in both areas are either cable cars, chair or drag lifts.
Snow making cannons provide cover on many of the lower slopes and there is floodlit night skiing available in high-season.
The main resort in the Cantal mountains to the South is Le Lioran. The 60 km of runs are both peaceful and un-crowded.
For those who prefer to get away from it all, take a picnic and explore the 284km of cross country trails in the Sancy Ouest area. There are runs to suit all abilities, graded in the same way as the downhill runs. Equipment hire, day passes and tuition are all available at relatively low cost.
