On the edge of the Berry region, discover the Brenne, an exceptional ‘land of a thousand lakes’ with many rare aquatic species of plants and animals and over 2,000 ‘fishponds’. Among the nearly 300 bird species recorded here you could see the Shoveler, Gadwall, Pintail, Wigeon, Little Bittern, Black and Middle Spotted Herons. If you’re lucky you’ll witness some of the rarer ones like the Whiskered Tern, Black-Necked Grebe and Purple Heron.
The park reveals more surprises with a variety of butterflies, dragonflies, European pond tortoises and orchids.
