The Doron de Bozel, a tributary of the Isère, which it joins at Moutiers, is turbulent and winding, its narrow course weaving beneath a magnificent arch of trees. Over its sustained 6km route between Brides les Bains and Salin les Thermes, where the Class 4 and 5 rapids follow each other continuously, teams must be efficient immediately and should have rafted before.
The Isère has hosted the world canoeing and kayaking championships on three occasions. It rises at the Col de l'Iseran, near Val d'Isère, and is fed by snow melt from the glaciers of the Vanoise, making it a fast-flowing river. The Tignes hydroelectric dam subdues the flood and ensures a constant flow of water from May until September.
Between Bourg Saint Maurice and Centron, it provides white water lovers with a fantastic playground. Halfway along, the famous Aime rapids have thrilled several generations of kayakers. The descent finishes with the magnificent Pucelle gorge and the Centron rapids. The full journey covers 22km of rapids between Bourg Saint Maurice and Centron, from Class 3 to Class 4.
