Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur is made up of six départements (counties): Hautes Alpes, Alpes de Haute-Provence, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Alpes-Maritimes.
The largest cities in the region are : Marseille, Nice, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, with many other cities ideal for city breaks: Avignon, Arles, Cannes....
Just a couple of hours from the UK and Ireland, the region Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur awaits to be discovered. From the Alpine peaks to the Mediterranean shores, the area has much to offer. At any time of the year, the region invites explorers: rural gateways, snow activities in the Southern Alps, cultural trips, relaxation, well-being, fine food and wine, and more.
During the winter, you will see the region in its best light. Villages and towns are invaded by Christmas fairs exhibiting the santons (small terracotta figurines) or the 13 desserts, traditionally served for Christmas dinner.
Slopes snowed all year long and fitted with a good network of snow making facilities. If you wish to try something other than skiing, these familial resorts are equipped for it: ice driving circuits, snow-shoe walks, paragliding, skijoring, horse-drawn carriage rides and ice climbing.
That’s not forgetting the health farms and relaxation centres, from sea water therapy centres to the latest gyms, including the Monêtier baths whose indoor and outdoor pools are fed by naturally heated, mineral-rich spring water.
